RE: Atlanta Georgia Area Emergency Communications Specialists assist in Emergency Preparedness on a Stake and Unit Level
By way of introduction, we are blessed to have Emergency Communication Specialists serving Atlanta and Atlanta North Coordinating Councils. Their role is to help your units identify and develop communications capability and practice emergency communications as part of your Stake, Ward, and Family Emergency Preparedness Plans. The contact information for our specialists is as follows:
Dale and Byron Todd, 678-471-4751, ERCnetAtlanta@Gmail.com
Steve Haynes, 770-570-8889, ERCnetAtlanta@Gmail.com
During my time as Stake President, I personally witnessed the need for and benefit of having multiple emergency communications options available in the aftermath of Hurricane Michael. We had many communications challenges as we met our obligation to assess the impact of Hurricane Michael on our missionaries, members and their homes, church property, and our communities. Being able to communicate with church leaders and Welfare Services Resource Managers is essential to quickly obtaining needed assistance.
Within the Atlanta Area Coordinating Councils, we have some stakes and units with a high degree of preparation and emergency communications capability as well as many units that are just getting started or do not know how to even begin to make progress in this area of responsibility. Some stakes have members relatively close by and other have members separated by longer distances and terrain. Your Stake Emergency Communications Plan and preparations will need to be customized to meet the specific needs of your stake.
The attached documents are emblematic of what Brother and Sister Todd and Brother Haynes will provide in the way of instructions and reference documents to help you implement Emergency Communication Preparedness at the stake and unit level, and I encourage you to reach out to our Atlanta Area Emergency Communications Specialists for their assistance as needed, and welcome their periodic visit to your unit.
May God bless you in this important work of Emergency Preparedness.
